SUMMARY:New Frontiers in Transportation 2022 Student Competition Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The New Frontiers in Transportation Student Competition is an initiative hosted annually by the University of Toronto Transportation Alumni Network (UTTAN) with the goal of connecting current students interested in transportation\, with alumni who currently work in the field. \nOver a three month period\, interdisciplinary student teams worked with mentors to conduct research on a topic of their choice\, under this year's theme: Reimagining Transportation Systems for a Changing Climate \nWe invite you to please join us in person on Tuesday\, September 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the University of Toronto Galbraith Building (GB202\, 35 St. George Street\, 2nd floor\, Toronto\, ON M5S 1A4) to hear the teams present their final research on this exciting and relevant topic. \nAt this event\, a panel of three judges will be evaluating the students' research and at the end\, will announce the winning teams who will be awarded cash prizes. \nThe research titles\, teams and mentors are: \n\nGeographic/Economic Inequality in Accessing Climate-Resilient Modes of Transportation\n\nTeam: Sophia Ilahi\, Fang Hao Holly Liu\, Alec Mak\nMentors: Balthazar Crane (Metrolinx)\, Merisha Arulthas (Metrolinx)\n\n\nDesigning for Extreme Heat\n\nTeam: Lisa Guseva\, Subaita Refaaf\nMentors: Trevor Jenkins (City of Hamilton)\, Michelle Kearns (Access Planning)\n\n\nLaurentian Hyperloop Corridor\n\nTeam: John Shen\, Rick Schutte\, Zyra Joseph\nMentors: Keith Cochrane (Uber Canada)\, Michele Colley (Metrolinx)\n\n\n\nRegister\nRegister now on Eventbrite. \nJoin us for a mixer after this event\nFollowing the Symposium\, there will be a mixer at the Prenup Pub (191 College St\, Toronto\, ON M5T 1P9) at 7:45 p.m.\, where students\, alumni and other friends of UTTAN can catch up in person first time since 2019! \nThanks to our sponsors\nA big thank you to our sponsors for making this possible: Dr. Mazen I.S.
