SUMMARY:Raphael Dumas presents 'How the City of Toronto Uses Vehicle Probe Provider Data for Evaluation\, Monitoring\, and Prioritization'
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the in-person seminar by Raphael Dumas on Friday\, October 14\, from 11 AM to 12 PM at the ITS lab\, Sandford Fleming Building\, 10 King's College Road\, 3rd floor\, Room SF3103. \nVehicle Probe Provider data come from navigation apps providing directions that incorporate real-time traffic. In order for drivers to get routed with up to date information\, they provide their location data so the service can monitor traffic. These companies also sell this traffic data to government agencies for active traffic management and also to use for other projects. This presentation will give an overview of the data\, its limitations\, how it has been used in Transportation Services\, and a description of an upcoming OpenData release. \nAbout the speaker \nRafael Dumas\nRaphael Dumas is the Team Lead for City of Toronto's Transportation Data Operations & Emerging Mobility Team. He oversees the Data & Analytics unit's digital infrastructure and leads analyses on Emerging Mobility including the Vehicle for Hire industry and carshare. He has been working with data at the City of Toronto since 2016. Before then he was doing transit data analysis for the MIT Transit Research Group while getting a dual Masters in City Planning and Transportation Engineering.. \n\nPresented by University of Toronto ITE Student Chapter\, UT-ITE. \nFree.
