The New Frontiers in Transportation Student Competition is an initiative hosted annually by the University of Toronto Transportation Alumni Network (UTTAN) with the goal of connecting current students interested in transportation, with alumni who currently work in the field.

Over a three month period, interdisciplinary student teams worked with mentors to conduct research on a topic of their choice, under this year's theme: Reimagining Transportation Systems for a Changing Climate

We invite you to please join us in person on Tuesday, September 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the University of Toronto Galbraith Building (GB202, 35 St. George Street, 2nd floor, Toronto, ON M5S 1A4) to hear the teams present their final research on this exciting and relevant topic.

At this event, a panel of three judges will be evaluating the students' research and at the end, will announce the winning teams who will be awarded cash prizes.

The research titles, teams and mentors are:

  • Geographic/Economic Inequality in Accessing Climate-Resilient Modes of Transportation
    • Team: Sophia Ilahi, Fang Hao Holly Liu, Alec Mak
    • Mentors: Balthazar Crane (Metrolinx), Merisha Arulthas (Metrolinx)
